GHMC Upgrading Shamshabad, Rajendranagar Roads to Ease Traffic

GHMC road development projects

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is expediting two major road development projects in Shamshabad and Rajendranagar. These projects aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity across Hyderabad’s southern suburbs. They will also increase road capacity and provide alternative routes between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and different parts of Hyderabad.

Key Highlights of GHMC Road Development Projects
  • Land Acquisition: GHMC will acquire 23,496 square yards of land for the two proposed road projects.
  • Shamshabad Road Project: The first corridor will connect the Gollapalli NH-44 junction to Pedda Golkonda via the ORR service road. The proposed road width is 100 feet.
  • Rajendranagar Corridor No. 19: The second project will widen a major road to 100 feet. It will connect the ORR service road with Chevella Road through Bandlaguda Jagir and Kismatpur.
  • Improved Connectivity: Both projects aim to provide alternative routes for commuters travelling between the ORR and Hyderabad.
How Will These Road Projects Benefit Hyderabad?

The proposed road widening projects are expected to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in Shamshabad, Rajendranagar and nearby areas. As a result, commuters could benefit from smoother travel and better connectivity. They will also have alternative routes to reach different parts of Hyderabad’s southern suburbs.

Furthermore, residential and commercial development continues to grow in these areas. Therefore, an improved road network could support smoother transportation and better access to emerging neighbourhoods. These developments could also contribute to Hyderabad’s long-term urban growth.
